Validus predicts $379mn Q3 cat loss total

Validus has estimated its total net losses from third quarter catastrophe events at $378.9mn, net of reinsurance, retrocessional recoveries, non-controlling interest and net impact on premiums earned.

The company said in a release yesterday (9 October) that its net losses, excluding its share of the AlphaCat, were $147mn for Hurricane Harvey, $164.9mn for Irma, $53.2mn for Maria and $11.8mn for the Mexico City (Puebla) earthquake on 19 September.
