US reels from $3bn weather losses in May

The pattern of extensive storm-related losses in the US during spring continued in 2017, with some $3bn in (re)insured losses hitting the market last month, according to analysis by Aon Benfield.

Nearly half that total was attributable to a single Colorado hailstorm that saw hail the size of baseballs- with some three inches in diameter.
