US property reinsurance rates drive market momentum

US property reinsurance rates have witnessed rate increases in the 5-15 percent range at the 1 January renewals, a key contributory factor to a forward momentum which could see a full market turn by 2013, according to research by Barclays Capital.

According to the research, US regional property reinsurance prices are also ranging from flat to up 15 percent for loss-free accounts, and are increasing 10-50 percent for loss impacted accounts.
