Space insurers hit with EUR225mn loss

The loss of Eutelsat's W3B satellite is likely to cost the space insurance market at least EUR225mn, Inside FAC understands.

The five-tonne satellite was lost following an anomaly which was detected on the space craft's propulsion subsystem after its launch by an Ariane 5 rocket, according to a company statement. The anomaly was most likely a significant propellant leak according to reports.
