RMS raises California wine country loss estimate to $6bn-$8bn

Catastrophe modelling firm RMS has increased its estimate for insured losses from the wildfires that ravaged California's wine-producing regions from $3bn-$6bn to $6bn-$8bn.

In a blog post on Friday evening (27 October) the cat modeller said its "reconnaissance experts" had visited the state's wine regions on 23 October, focusing primarily on the Tubbs Fire which affected the counties of Napa, Sonoma, and Lake.

As a consequence it raised its estimate to $6bn-$8bn for economic losses from the wildfires that struck...
