Major satellite loss could end softening market

The loss of Eutelsat's W3B satellite - insured for EUR245mn - could harden rates in the niche space insurance market. This will come as a relief to the sector as a benign loss experience in recent years has put downward pressure on rates, with premium reductions of 20 percent to 30 percent common in 2010.
