Lloyd’s losses continue to add to NZ earthquake tally

Lloyd's (re)insurers Hiscox, Beazley and Brit can expect a combined $110mn hit from the New Zealand earthquake, according to the latest research into a catastrophe whose loss impact continues to creep upwards.

Keefe Bruyette & Woods analyst Christopher Hitchings said Hiscox was now in line for approximately $50mn of losses from New Zealand. Leading casualty underwriter Beazley may expect a net loss of $35mn, he suggested, while calculating that Brit could expect a loss of around $25mn.
