Joachim could cost EUR300mn says Perils

The Perils industry loss collation service suggests that losses for the property insurance market as a result of windstorm Joachim will be some EUR300mn.

Windstorm Joachim hit large swathes of Western Europe from 15-17 December 2011, predominately affecting France, with losses also occurring in Germany and Switzerland.

In particular, Joachim caused widespread power outages in northern and western France, with some 300 000 households losing electricity. Coastal flooding was reported in several coastal departments, including Gironde, Charente-Maritime, Vendee, Loire-Atlantique, Morbihan,...
