Hurricane Igor could reach category 5

Hurricane Igor, which has rapidly strengthened into a powerful category 4 hurricane over the past 24 hours, could reach category 5 status today (13 Sep), according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

Although Igor poses no immediate threat to land, it remains unclear at this stage whether the storm will eventually impact the United States or Bermuda, according to Guy Carpenter.
