GCube partners with C&G in South African $595mn renewables push

London-based renewable energy specialist GCube Underwriting Ltd (GCUL) has teamed up with South African underwriter C&G to provide 4bn South African Rand ($595mn) of underwriting capacity to the local renewables market.

GCube claims the capacity is the largest such collaboration of its kind for renewable energy insurance in the world, partly fuelled by the South African government's decision that renewable energy must be responsible for 42 percent of new power projects in the country.
