Further delays to deepwater drilling anticipated

Energy companies may face further delays to offshore drilling projects despite the lifting of a ban on drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.

The moratorium ended this month, but new regulations could increase drilling times by 20% to 25%, resulting in a 12% decline in total daily production in the Gulf, according to offshore drilling contractor Noble.
