Fac market to take heavy Chile loss

The fac market looks set to take half of all insured losses from the Chile earthquake, with key facultative sectors such as pulp and paper and energy among the industrial areas most heavily affected.

With market estimates placing the overall loss to (re)insurers at up to $10bn, facultative losses stemming from the temblor could reach $5bn, with contingent business interruption losses on suspended operations likely to hit hard.
