Equine bloodbath

If there is one word that sums up the bloodstock sector at the moment it is overcapacity. In the past two years Markel, Broadgate, Novae and Marketform have all entered the Lloyd's market, helping to produce some of the softest conditions in years.

According to underwriters, rates are at unsustainable levels and they are enduring one of the most difficult periods the market has seen.
