Deterioration in 2015 losses hits upstream energy carriers

Insurers in the upstream energy market are being "significantly impacted" by the deterioration of losses incurred in 2015, amid a continuing environment of declining premiums and increasing capacity, according to a report released today (11 April).

In its April 2017 Energy Market Review, Willis Towers Watson noted that 2015 upstream energy losses now total just over $5bn - the highest such total for five years.
