Dear reader,

Bloodbath. Carnage. Massacre. Call it what you will, but one thing is clear, and that is it's not a great time to be underwriting at the moment.

A dreadful loss ratio already this year and continuing poor investment returns are bad enough, but add to that a continuing capacity glut and you've got a miserable combination indeed.

The word on the street is that D&F rates are plummeting at renewals, with declines in the 15 to 20 percentage...
