American footballer sues Lloyd’s for $4mn

Former Louisiana State offensive lineman Ciron Black is suing underwriters at Lloyd's for $4mn for allegedly failing to honour a policy he had taken out to protect future earnings.

In Black v Certain Underwriters at Lloyds of London, filed in a Louisiana District Court, Black said he was a star athlete in August 2009 before sustaining a career-ending knee injury in November 2009.

In October 2009 he took out a policy at Lloyd's through Hanleigh Insurance and Petersen International Underwriters...
