Alex hurricane status nears

Tropical storm Alex is continuing to track towards the Mexico/Texas border area and is forecast to reach hurricane status later today (29 June) according to Risk Management Solutions (RMS).

As of 12:00 UTC on Tuesday, 29 June Alex was located about 335 miles east-southeast of La Pasca, Mexico and 380 miles southeast of Brownsville, Texas. At this time, Alex had estimated maximum sustained winds near 70 mph which is approaching hurricane strength.
