Airline claims below average in 2010

Airline claims are running 10 percent below the 1996-2009 average, with major first-half losses at $458mn compared to $1.32bn for the same period in 2009.

Moreover, the figure for the first half of last year is distorted because it includes the Air France crash - the industry's worst aviation loss since 2001.

The Aon-compiled figures also reveal that, including an estimate for minor losses, the overall loss total for the first six months of 2010 is $733mn. The broker calculated...
