‘Forlorn’ hope of energy market reaching bottom

Despite significant loss activity in the downstream energy sector during the second quarter of 2017, rates in the market have not yet reached rock bottom, according to JLT.

In its latest quarterly energy newsletter, the broker noted that, by contrast, the first half of 2017 had "been kind" to (re)insurers in the upstream market, with low premium income not compounded by a poor loss experience.
